Springfield, Virginia, based singer-songwriter-bassist Pete Rafle (aka PR Songsmith) is an alumnus of Steve Earle’s Camp Copperhead and Richard Thompson's Frets & Refrains, where he has had the privilege of honing his songwriting craft under the tutelage of Dar Williams, Patty Griffin, Shawn Colvin, Gretchen Peters, Jill Sobule, Tift Merritt, John Doyle, Richard Thompson, and Sloane Wainwright. His new album, "Compass & Chart", comes out on October 11, 2025!

On the last Thursday of every month, Pete hosts of Thursday Mic Live at Crescendo Studios in Falls Church, Virginia, serving as MC for a diverse, inclusive community of independent artists. Pete also plays bass in The Stacks and Parker's Arc (the house band at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax). He is always interested in new opportunities to collaborate and make music.
